Apple finally brought back the ports!
So Apple just unveiled its new Macbook Pro and this is huge news!
Indeed, Apple’s October event 2021 was full of good surprises for Macbook users. Why such a big deal? Well, because after “innovating” the powerful machine with the removal of critical ports or the addition of a useless touch bar, Apple decided to go back on years of (bad) hardware decisions.
Yep, the ports are back. The same ports that were removed in 2016. The same ports most people need to use SD cards and connect through HDMI. Oh and the Magsafe charging connector is back too.
Although seemingly surprising, this flip-flopping from the tech giant about one of their most popular machines is surprising, but it could also be a planned surprise. Apple is well known for its strategic planned obsolescence of their products and got called out publicly for years, some of the complaints even ended up in million dollar lawsuits.
The new line upgrade now includes a 14.2-inch and a 16.2-inch screen with Apple's new M1 Pro and Max chips, squared-off design, a 14.2-inch 120Hz ProMotion Mini LED display, a 1080p webcam and much more... The new laptops start at $1999 for the 14.2-inch baseline model and $2,499 for the 16.2-inch (visit Apple's website for a full list of specifications).
The last generation 13-inch Macbook Pro model and Macbook Air are still available (without the “extra” ports).
The Apple event also featured new accessories such as a new Apple Music subscription service at $4.99/month, new Homepod mini colors and new Airpods at $179.
Clearly, the past years of redesigns of the Macbook Pro were not popular with most Apple users and the company listened. So if you are looking to buy a new Macbook Pro, throw your dongles in the air and keep calm, the new laptops are available for pre-order on Apple’s website.
Watch the below video about the new MacBook Pro, Apple calls it “a beast.” A machine supercharged for pros and “delivers extraordinary performance that pushes the boundaries of creativity.”
