Peace and Love Studios was born when Angelica ‘Jelly’ Robinson realized that her passion for hair was much more than just a hobby. Based in Texas, Jelly’s signature mobile truck “Big Blue” is a haven to her clients and their families. Her salon is self-described as an all-inclusive, safe space and confidence booster for children, especially those in the special needs community. It also serves as an awareness builder on clients with special needs and an important example for providers in the haircare industry.
Known locally as the “Baby Whisperer” or “Child Hair Care Specialist” Jelly specializes in providing hair styling services for children and young people with special needs including Autism, Down Syndrome, and those who experience challenges with sensory sensitivities. Beyond just styling hair, her philosophy is to lead with kindness and build the confidence of each child that sits in her chair.
A parent to one of Jelly’s many clients, Lauren, had long struggled with finding a way to give a haircut to her young son who was diagnosed with Autism and Sensory Processing Disorder. She found out about Peace and Love Studios on the local news and booked an appointment hoping for a solution.
“She was kind, patient, understood what my son needed to be comfortable for his haircut and made us feel welcomed.”
Peace and Love Studios also champions the Challenge Accepted Program that works with parents and families of children with special needs to take a personalized approach and create a safe environment for each child receiving hair care services. A detailed set of questions explores options such as the child’s favorite snack, movie, music or other elements that could help set the stage for a fulfilling and trauma-free experience.
“My patience is infinite when it comes to these beautiful children and I know with Peace and Love Studios, our youth will be able to better navigate life knowing greatness exists inside of them,” says Jelly.
