For many of us, this is the first thanksgiving in two years that will feel somewhat normal. People are feeling more comfortable booking flights and traveling again, and virtual family reunions seem to have become a thing of the past. But as we all know, the one thing that is inevitable when we gather together with our loved ones who we may not have seen in a while, is there will be plenty of time to engage in conversation about all kinds of things.

If you’re like us, your socializing skills might be a little rusty after all that solitary time during quarantine! So to make sure that things go smoothly, we’ve put together a list of some handy conversation starters that will help you reconnect and keep everyone’s energy positive throughout the upcoming holiday.

Tell me something that brought you joy in life recently?

What was the highlight of your week?

Any good podcasts/movies/books/tv shows you’ve been enjoying lately?

If you had an unlimited budget, where would your next trip be?

Have you traveled anywhere interesting lately?

What is a helpful lesson that you’ve learned recently?

Or simply… How have you been?

BONUS: To refresh your memory on how to avoid being THAT person that makes things uncomfortable or offends someone, feel free to revisit this helpful guide on topics to avoid when you’re catching up with everyone.
