The self proclaimed African giant did it again. Burna Boy’s latest album Love, Damini was released on July 7, 2022 and it is already a success. With this new album, Burna Boy goes back to basics with the signature afrofusion sound that brought him international stardom. After the global success of African Giant and Twice as Tall, the last two albums that officially gave him giant status, the pressure was on… and Burna rose to the occasion.

On April 28, 2022 the Nigerian singer became the first African artist to sell out the prestigious Madison Square Garden in New York City. He teased some of his new songs such as the already popular singles Kilometer and Last Last (a sampling of Tony Braxton’s He wasn’t man enough). Through his latest album Burna Boy unveils a more personal project. With tracks like Glory, the Nigerian singer tells his story, “It’s a bit personal [...] it’s bringing you into my head on my birthday” he said.

The new album was released right after the artist’s 31st Birthday, “when you turn 31 and ain’t got no kids, everything is going good and bad at the same time. You reflect and then you get as lit as possible,”he said. Love, Damini, the 19-track project brings us back to the basic pleasure of enjoying the moment with good vibes. “I’m reflecting on everything — what I’m doing and what’s happening where I’m from. Where I’m from is a part of where I’m going.” That is the story of Love, Damini

Burna Boy, who was born Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu, has been on the music scene since the early 2010’s and rose to stardom in 2012 with his single Like to party from his debut studio album L.I.F.E. He went on to become a household name within only a few years and gained international recognition when he signed with Bad Habit/Atlantic Records in the United States and Warner Music Group in 2017.

His previous album Twice as Tall was named Billboard global album of the year in 2020 and Love, Damini is set to break new records.
